Welcome to St. Joseph Church
The Installation Mass of Fr. Timothy Do
Dear friends and members of St. Joseph parish,
It is with humility and with great joy that I take this opportunity to introduce myself to you as your administrator. Though I have been serving this parish as a Parochial Vicar the last three years, as a way of introduction, let me share with you a bit about my journey:
I was born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam. I come from a Catholic family of eleven children, eight girls and three boys. I’m the youngest of eleven. I was about 12 years old when I began to contemplate the thought of becoming a priest and at the age of 19, I was accepted to Divine Word Seminary in Iowa, where I earned a B.A in Philosophy. I took my vows as a member of Divine Word Missionaries. After eight years with the Divine Word Missionaries, I decided not to renew my vows with the society and began to study as a Family Therapist. I earned a Master in Psychology and worked for Orange County as a Family Specialist. In 2006, I decided to go back to seminary. Bishop Barnes sent me to Assumption Seminary in San Antonio to continue my theological study. I was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Gerald Barnes on May 29 in 2010.
My first priest parish assignment was to the community of Saint Joseph parish in Barstow for six months. Because of the need for a Vietnamese priest, I was transferred to Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Riverside as a Priest Minister, where I served Anglo, Spanish, Vietnamese and Tongan communities. In 2013, I was appointed to St. Joseph in Upland as a Parochial Vicar. In July of this year, Bishop Barnes appointed me Administrator of St. Joseph Parish for the term of three years.
I am eager for the opportunity God has blessed me with to share in ministry with you. I believe that together we can open ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit so we may know God’s will and follow with generous hearts.
I look forward to meeting you all and learning the wonders of your life and faith stories. In the days ahead, I welcome hearing your wisdom, insights and concerns.
Last but not least, I would like to thank everyone for all the prayers, kind words and generous support you have been giving me.
In the loving heart of the Holy Family,
Rev. Timothy Truong Do
